Research Simplifed: Episode 2: Functional Training (Part 1)

Research Simplifed: Episode 2: Functional Training (Part 1)

Today we discuss Functional Training, a somewhat new focus in the field of exercise science that is the product of many different concepts in exercise science and motor development. We take a brief look into the basic definition of Functional Training and some of the key concepts that are central to this much broader modality. The research we discuss today is from The Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research (May 2005), and looks at the difference between olympic lifting protocols and plyometric protocols in the development of skills like the vertical jump, 10m sprint, and more.

This episode discusses an article from Eric W. Dolan of psypost.org, addressing new research into mindfulness meditation and its role in memory, learning, and recall. We discuss the awesome potential of mindfulness and the ways in which we can envision change on both personal and more systematic levels.

Here is a link to the article that we discussed. Thank you to Eric W. Dolan for providing us with this great information to discuss.
